Happy First Birthday Tweet4Gary.

Well we finally made it, our first birthday, and at the moment we couldn’t be happier. What a year.
Anyone remember Tweet Obama Day October 17th 2009
24 hours of tweeting for Gary in the hope that one would get through. Obviously we realise that The President Of The United States doesn’t check his Twitter account @BarackObama personally, but we continued to hope.
It seemed  that the then British Government under Labour  had completely lost sight of  Human Rights  and its primary responsibility to its citizens. Thankfully, they had forgotten that they still needed one thing from us. Our vote.   The United Kingdom general election was held on Thursday 6 May 2010.
With both David Cameron and Nick Clegg having spoken out for Gary McKinnon, there was now a real sense that  hope and reason had once again taken its rightful place  in Downing Street with Prime Minister David Cameron and Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg .  We didn’t have to wait long

Finally Prime Minister Cameron  had managed to do  what had not been possible during the previous decade of a  Labour Government, five Home Secretaries  and two Prime Ministers  unable to help one of its most vulnerable citizens.  So in the name of everything we believe, in British Democracy its time to Free Gary  and his family from this decade  of unbearable anxiety  and allow him to stay in the UK.
Its still early days, but Tweet4Gary will be here until the right decision is made.
For our Birthday we’re happy that there are now well over 3000 Free Gary Twibbons on Twitter avatars.
The Free Gary Twibbon  was created by Ed Johnson @EdzJohnson
We hoped to announce this on our 25000th tweet  but as I write this Tweet4Gary has made 21,794 tweets.

Above everything else I’d like to thank everyone who has taken the time to  support us and our aim, for the consistent retweets and  supporting the twibbon.  So  a big Thank You to everyone.
Every day at 5pm Tweet4Gary sends out the following message.
The aim of Tweet4Gary is to get this to President Obama please help. ”Please, hear us Obama”
And finally he did.

Happy First Birthday Tweet4Gary
